What’s included
- Step back in time and explore the fascinating world of railway heritage at the Engine Shed Display at the Vale of Rheidol Railway.
- This brand new museum display opened in 2024 and
is housed in the restored 1930s Engine Shed - Visitors can admire a collection of historic locomotives and carriages providing a glimpse into the golden age of steam travel.
- Many of the exhibits are from the Vale of Rheidol Museum collection
Highlights
- Fire Queen A remarkable survivor, built in 1848. It once hauled Welsh slate on the Padarn Railway
- 9017 Dukedog “Earl of Berkley” spent many years working out of this very shed. On loan from the Bluebell Railway until 2026.
- F68 a carriage from the Isle of Man Railway. Beautifully restored by Peter Rampton

- The donation fare includes a 10% voluntary donation to support heritage projects on the railway. You can choose to purchase a ticket with donation or without.
- If you make the donation, your ticket can be Gift Aided at no extra cost. Gift Aid is a UK Government scheme which allows charities such as the Vale of Rheidol to claim back 25p for every pound spent.
