Easter activities

Easter is a fantastic time to enjoy the scenery of the Rheidol valley: look out for the lambs in the fields, and perhaps some snow on the hills too. Will you be joining us?
We will be running our busy yellow timetable on Easter Saturday, Sunday and Monday (plus 2nd-4th April too): four trains a day, allowing plenty of opportunities to break your journey.
Our brand new museum in Aberystwyth is also open: have you been yet? Admission is free with a train ticket, or £5 adults / £3 children.
We will also be running activities for children in our museum on Wednesday 3rd April: craft, storytelling, art challenges and more!
Look out for our ‘Giant Garratt’ art challenge (to create a piece of art longer than our Garratt locomotive), as well as self-led ‘make and take’ activities. There will also be story-telling sessions for under 7s, a dress-up box and opportunities to have your photo taken on the footplate of a steam locomotive. You can even find out how a steam locomotive works!
If you are looking for something different, have you tried our late afternoon train? Departing Aberystwyth at 15.45, the train allows a relaxed journey that returns by 18.45: just in time for a meal in the town centre, or to perhaps eat some chips and watch the sunset together? The late afternoon train runs on yellow timetable days (Easter Saturday, Sunday and Monday, plus 2nd-4th April), and is often quieter than the other trains. It is a great way of making the most of your day, as you can combine it with other attractions in the area.
Easter is a fantastic time to visit Ceredigion. Will you be joining us?
