Work on the Baldwin has been continuing steadily. The tanks were temporarily refitted to the frames prior to removal for painting to begin, and vacuum brake pipes have been made and fitted.
The iconic ‘water lifter’ pipe work has been manufactured and fitted. A lot of work has taken place on the motion and valve gear which included replacement of a number of the rods and heavy reworking of other parts.
New cylinder cladding has been manufactured and fitted and painting has now begun on several component parts of the engine including the steam dome, sand dome and tanks.
