🎄 Ticket to Christmas Has Arrived at the Vale of Rheidol Railway

Christmas has officially arrived at the Vale of Rheidol Railway, and we’re delighted to welcome families to our magical Ticket to Christmas experience — 13 & 14th December and then from Wed 17th through to 23rd December, 11am – 6pm.

Taking place entirely inside our museum at Aberystwyth, this unique Christmas event is fully undercover, warm and dry, making it the perfect festive outing whatever the winter weather. Best of all, the experience unfolds amongst our historic locomotives, creating a truly atmospheric setting unlike anywhere else.

A Fully Interactive Christmas Adventure

Ticket to Christmas is a fully interactive experience designed especially for children, with plenty for grown-ups to enjoy too.

On arrival, every child receives their very own Christmas Passport, which becomes their guide for the journey ahead. As they move through the museum, children visit different activity areas where they:

  • Meet friendly elves

  • Take part in festive games and activities

  • Collect stamps in their passport as each challenge is completed

Once all the activities are complete, the journey reaches its magical finale — a special visit to see Santa.

There’s no rushing here; families are encouraged to enjoy each activity at a relaxed pace, soaking up the festive atmosphere along the way.

Warm, Dry… and Perfect for Winter

Unlike outdoor Christmas attractions, Ticket to Christmas is entirely indoors, making it ideal for younger children and families looking for a comfortable, weather-proof experience. The museum is beautifully dressed for the season, with twinkling lights, festive décor and the added magic of our locomotives forming the backdrop.

Café & Shop Open All Day

While you’re here, be sure to make time for a visit to:

  • Caffi Cledrau, serving hot drinks, festive treats and light meals throughout the day.

  • Our Railway Shop, packed with Christmas gifts, books, souvenirs and railway-themed presents — perfect for last-minute shopping.

There’s no need to rush away once the experience ends — relax, refuel and enjoy the station atmosphere.
